Environmental (Impact) Assessment (EA) .jpg)
Most large development projects require an Environmental Assessment (EA) as defined under the British Columbia Environmental Assessment Act (BCEAA) and the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act (CEAA). The EA process identifies and evaluates the potential impacts of the proposed project early in the process to prevent costly mistakes and provide opportunities for the project to be modified prior to final design and construction. This process involves an integrated approach to examine the individual and cumulative socioeconomic, ecological, and health impacts of development activities (EAO Guidelines, 2003).
Timberline’s professional and technical staff provides many of the ecosystem, inventory and analysis services required under the EA process:
-
forest and vegetation inventories and mapping;
-
ecosystem inventories and mapping;
-
wildlife and wildlife habitat studies;
-
species at risk management;
-
biometric analyses, and
-
visual impact assessments and renderings.
In addition to the services above, our staff assists in the identification of potential impacts, participates in the development of mitigation design and implementation strategies, and coordinates a variety of technical documents, reports and presentations. We also provide environmental monitoring services and remediation / reclamation assessments and management.
